And awe comes over us too when we hear of what the Lord is doing in this day and age. Here are just some of the healings He has made among us recently:

"My friend Cathy is suffering from several physical diseases, confining her to a wheel chair from time to time. She is new to the Renewal and a faithful attendee of our prayer meetings and liturgies. At this year's Northern California Charismatic Catholic Convention on Pentecost, I sensed the Lord prompting me to encourage her to come forward to the stage, just when Sr. Linda Koontz began her intercessory prayer for people who wanted prayer. Sr. Linda spoke of releasing the pain of a broken heart, resentment, anger, and unforgiveness. Her words and fervent prayer went right to Cathy's heart, making Cathy aware she had to get rid of some - as she called it - "stuff" deep inside of her. Cathy asked God to help her let go of these things. A torrent of tears streamed down her face, and she later described to me how it felt like a "big black blob" was leaving her chest cavity at that time, thus creating an emptiness inside. That is when she invited the Holy Spirit into her heart-and He came and filled her with His peace and well-being. Since then, Cathy also feels much better physically. She is stronger, able to walk longer, and the doctor has been able to reduce her medication without Cathy suffering any of the severe withdrawal symptoms she experienced in the past.

With another friend, I went to the hospital where Susan and her sister Mag were holding vigil by their unconscious mother's bedside. Mag greeted us warmly and although a practicing Buddhist, she asked us to lay hands on her mother in prayer. During our prayer, the beautiful, frail mother slowly awoke and smiled, a tear gently touching her cheek. As my friend and I were leaving, they played "Only in God" for their mother. Just about midnight, the Lord took her home. Later, Mag told me that throughout the night she, herself, felt tenderness, hope, and love in her heart.

After communion, James asked everyone to open themselves to the healing power of Jesus as present in the Eucharist and to raise our hand if we had a special need to be prayed over. My family urged me to raise my hand, but I didn't want to at first. When I finally did, people gently laid hands on me and prayed for my healing. Next morning it seemed to me that I felt different, but I did not want to imagine things. So, I didn't make too much of it. When I went to my pre-op visit, the doctor examined me and said, `Your ovary doesn't seem to be enlarged anymore.' The laparoscopy confirmed that everything looked normal. No surgery was necessary, and I have not had any problems since-it has been almost 5 years now."
